First official practice day of the women’s world gliding championships. The conditions were very blue so separate AAT tasks were set for all three classes. Meanwhile the stewards began scrutineering – the process of checking safety and fairness standards of the aircraft. Team GB club class pilot, Carol Marshall, said the day was “very hot, very blue, as blue as any day I’ve ever flown.“ Most pilots completed the first leg and then as the lift deteriorated a few headed home instead of risking land out.
